The Social Innovation Hub's goal is to support social innovation by providing access to digital skills. We encourage using equipment for personal development and social innovation and social entrepreneurship projects that have social impact. The Social Innovation Hub offers access to basic technological devices - laptops, tablets, cameras, mics etc. These resources are available to the public - Rhodes staff and students, Makhanda residents, external organisations, local schools, etc.

Our centre is mainly designed for short-term loans. We also partner with departments or organisations for extended periods (see Mobile hubs). 

Users need to read and sign an agreement, provide identification and contact information as well as agree to the terms of use to borrow equipment. 

The Social Innovation Hub is also available to assist or advise on the setting up of computer labs in schools or at community-based organisations, and the implementation of digital training programmes.
